SUBACROMIAL DECOMPRESSION + DISTAL CLAVICLE EXCISION GUIDELINES
  • PHASE ONE

    0-4 WEEKS

    RANGE OF MOTION

    PROM as tolerated

    IMMOBILIZER

    0-2 weeks: Worn for comfort only

    2-4 weeks: Discontinue

    EXERCISES

    0-2 weeks: Elbow, Wrist, Hand, ROM, Pendulums, and Wall Climbs.

    Shoulder AAROM|AROM.

    2 weeks: Deltoid cuff isometrics. Begin scapular protraction + retraction.

  • PHASE TWO

    4-8 WEEKS

    RANGE OF MOTION

    Increase as tolerated to full.

    IMMOBILIZER

    None

    EXERCISES

    Advance to therabands and dumbbells as tolerated, capsular stretching at end-ROM to maintain flexibility.

  • PHASE THREE

    8-12 WEEKS

    RANGE OF MOTION

    Progress toward full without discomfort.

    IMMOBILIZER

    None

    EXERCISES

    Advance strength training as tolerated including PNF. Begin eccentrically resisted motions.

    Advance to sport and full activity as tolerated after 12 weeks.
