PHASE ONE
0-6 WEEKS
RANGE OF MOTION
Passive ROM to tolerance.
IMMOBILIZER
Worn for first 7-10 days post-operative to stabilize wrist complex.
EXERCISES
Gentle hand/wrist/elbow/shoulder stretching, isometric hand/wrist/elbow/ shoulder strengthening – avoid all extension in elbow and wrist.
PHASE TWO
6-8 WEEKS
RANGE OF MOTION
Increase range of motion to full, begin active wrist extension
IMMOBILIZER
None
EXERCISES
Advance strengthening exercises in phase I to resistive, maintain flexibility/ ROM, begin gentle active wrist extension exercises.
PHASE THREE
8-10 WEEKS
RANGE OF MOTION
Full and pain-free.
IMMOBILIZER
None
EXERCISES
Advance phase II activities, gradual progression toward return to full activity.
